最近,“法國(guó)面包節(jié)”(the French bread festival)(法語(yǔ):La Fête du Pain)在中國(guó)上了熱搜(trending on Chinese social media),饅頭(steamed buns)作為中國(guó)“面包”的代表,也“出戰(zhàn)”了這次的面包節(jié)。
01 “法國(guó)面包節(jié)”是什么節(jié)日?
法國(guó)面包節(jié)(the French bread festival)是一個(gè)10-day event(10天的活動(dòng)),今年將會(huì)end on the 16th (在16號(hào)結(jié)束)。面包節(jié)就在巴黎圣母院前面(right in front Notre Dame)舉行,it takes place in May each year(每年五月舉行),是一個(gè)了解the process of making bread and pastries(蛋糕和糕點(diǎn)制作過(guò)程)的好機(jī)會(huì)。

02 面包節(jié)是怎么“夸”中國(guó)饅頭的?
我們派出的代表選手是饅頭(Steamed buns were sent to represent the Chinese bread)。這件事shocked the Chinese netizens(讓中國(guó)網(wǎng)友震驚了)。網(wǎng)友以饅頭的口吻調(diào)侃說(shuō)“我是饅頭,但工作的時(shí)候請(qǐng)叫我‘中式無(wú)糖面包’(Chinese sugarless bread)”。這么說(shuō)來(lái),面包是不是也可以叫“法式饅頭”呢?
法國(guó)面包節(jié)是這么“夸”中國(guó)饅頭的:Based on wheat (小麥), flour (面粉), yeast (酵母) and then steamed (蒸制), the Mantou has a smooth surface (光滑的表面) and a dense crumb (細(xì)密的饅頭屑). 在中國(guó)南方,有花樣的“饅頭”,會(huì)加sugar and fat(糖和脂肪),它是一種staple food(主食)。It is found in many shapes (形狀), 比如round (圓形的), leaf (樹(shù)葉形的), and flower (花朵形的).

03 饅頭和面包最早是怎么制作出來(lái)的?
據(jù)說(shuō)饅頭最早是invented by諸葛亮。也有傳說(shuō)說(shuō)當(dāng)年饅頭是作為戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)時(shí)期的祭品被發(fā)明出來(lái)的,還有傳說(shuō)是諸葛亮為了改善士兵們的伙食,才發(fā)明了饅頭。
關(guān)于面包的起源,有一個(gè)legend(傳說(shuō))說(shuō)是一個(gè)Egyptian slave(埃及奴隸)在烤面包的時(shí)候(when he was baking)睡著(fell asleep)了,然后accidentally let the bread ferment overnight(不小心讓面包發(fā)酵了整晚),意外制作出了“面包”。當(dāng)然,這也只是一個(gè)傳說(shuō),we don’t know whether it is true or not!

04 中國(guó)饅頭都有啥花樣?
Basically, steamed buns to China is what bread is to France (中國(guó)人離不開(kāi)饅頭,就像法國(guó)人離不開(kāi)面包). 饅頭在中國(guó)飲食結(jié)構(gòu)中非常重要,the Northern Chinese typically have Mantou and noodles as their main source of carbs (北方人的碳水來(lái)源主要是饅頭、面條等面食)。
中國(guó)有各種各樣的饅頭(different types of Mantou),比如大棗餑餑,which is a type of steamed buns with dates (大棗),and it’s got a bit of a sweet flavour(帶點(diǎn)甜味)。中國(guó)人還會(huì)用饅頭來(lái)symbolize good wishes(象征美好的寓意),比如面魚(yú),which is Mantou in the shape of a fish。過(guò)年過(guò)節(jié)時(shí)吃面魚(yú)代表(represents)“年年有余”,這也是一種飲食文化(a kind of food culture)。
05 法國(guó)人常吃什么面包?
說(shuō)到法國(guó)的面包,baguette(法棍)肯定是第一名,it is probably the most famous French bread。法棍可以說(shuō)是“Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside”(外脆里軟),難怪法國(guó)人每天去boulangerie(現(xiàn)烤面包店),排隊(duì)買法棍(line up for baguettes every day)。

06 主播們最愛(ài)的面包和饅頭是什么?
提到最愛(ài)的面包,主播梅莉說(shuō)嘗試過(guò)很多(she has tried so many),但她definitely recommend the baguette(還是最推薦法棍),可以pair it with butter and jam, and also with cheese(搭配黃油、果醬或奶酪)一起吃。梅莉還提到,她還愛(ài)吃pain au chocolate(巧克力面包),it is like a croissant but with chocolate inside。可以說(shuō)pain au chocolate是她的“l(fā)ittle guilty pleasure”,吃起來(lái)有“罪惡感”,但又很滿足。因?yàn)榍煽肆γ姘拇_卡路里很高(it’s super high-calorie),but it’s seriously good!
