音樂在任何文化中都是極其重要的 Music is a very important part of any culture. 而且我相信，在座的所有人 and I'm sure, all of us here 都贊同我們必須保持我們文化的活力與繁榮 will agree that we must keep our culture alive and thriving. 這在像香港這樣的地方尤為重要 This is particularly important in a place like Hong Kong 這里大多數(shù)人都忙于為金錢和名譽而奔波 when most people are busy working for money and fame. 文化有助于保持我們生活的平衡 Culture will help us to maintain a balance in our lives. 正是出于這種信念 Because of this belief, 我，一個從未受過專業(yè)音樂教育的人 I who have not been properly trained in music, 年復一年地盡己所能去促進音樂的發(fā)展 have for years been trying my best to promote music, If you work for a marketing firm, your job is to promote new products — to publicize them and to try to get the public to buy them. 不僅僅通過唱歌和表演 not just by singing and performing, 還通過創(chuàng)作樂曲和填寫歌詞 but also by creating tunes and writing lyrics for songs. 我沉浸于此 I enjoy doing this 而且我想 and I think that 這也是我在為香港的音樂和文化做出微小的貢獻 in a small way, I'm contributing to the music and the culture of Hong Kong. 我也相信 I also believe that, 藝人擁有創(chuàng)造力是非常重要的 it is important for artists to be creative, 因此我也盡己所能去創(chuàng)造新的娛樂形式 and so I have been working hard to create new ways of entertaining, 甚至引領新的潮流 and even setting new trends. 我最近的被評價“充滿爭議”的演唱會 My recent concerts which have been described as controversial 就是我所努力的方向的例證 are examples of my efforts in this direction. 這受到了很多的贊揚，也引來了批評 They have attracted many favourable comments as well as some criticisms. 我認為這無關緊要 I think that is fine 而且我會繼續(xù)嘗試創(chuàng)新 and I will continue to be creative. 我知道大家也一定會贊同這一點，并同樣去努力 I know all of you will approve and do the same. 謝謝 Thank you. 最后，也是非常重要的 Last but not the least, 音樂是我們的職業(yè)和謀生之道 music is our profession and our livelihood 我們創(chuàng)作的作品應當受到著作權的保護 and the works we have created should be protected from piracy. 不幸的是，先進的信息技術 Unfortunately, advanced information technology 使得現(xiàn)狀惡化了 has helped aggravate this situation, 導致了許多問題 causing many problems 威脅到了許多藝人的生存 and threatening the livelihood of many artists. 我希望能趁這個機會 I wish to use this opportunity 呼吁所有的藝人 to call upon all the artists 聯(lián)合起來，反對侵權 to unite in a campaign against piracy.
